Nation, Army, Victory Rally Draws Thousands

Thousands gather for “Nation, Army, Victory” Rally in Yerevan on March 6 The Homeland Salvation Movement organized yet another rally Saturday under the slogan on “Nation, Army Victory,” which drew thousands to Baghramyan Street, where its supporters have been gathered for non-stop protests since last month. The rally participants demanded the resignation of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and expressed their unequivocal support for the leadership of Armenia’s Armed Forces, who have come under attack by Pashinyan who accused them of attempting a coup d’etat in Armenia because they called for his resignation. Armenian Revolutionary Federation member Gegham Manukyan told the protesters that those who have participated in the movement’s effort in the past several weeks have been strong, especially the youth, who, he said, have been the driving force of the protests. Most of them, Manukyan said, are so humble that they are not boasting that they have fought in the war.

President to Refer Army Chief Firing Matter to High Court

President Armen Sarkissian (left) and Armenia’s Armed Forces Chief of Staff Colonel-General Onik Gasparyan President Armen Sarkissian on Tuesday again did not sign a request by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan firing the Chief of Staff of Armenia’s Armed Forces Colonel-General Onik Gasparyan, who on Thursday called for Pashinyan’s resignation. Instead, the president’s office said that he would refer the matter to Armenia’s Constitutional Court. Soon after Gasparyan and 40 other high-ranking military officials called for Pashinyan’s resignation last week, the prime minister sent a decree to Sarkissian relieving Gasparyan from his duties. On Saturday, Sarkissian refused to sign the decree questioning its constitutionality and drive Armenia deeper into a domestic crisis, which has been brewing since Pashinyan signed the November 9 agreement that ended military actions in Karabakh, but surrendered territories in Artsakh and Armenia to Azerbaijan.

Ara Hakobyan: Authorities support our enemies, cooperate with them

Ara Hakobyan: Authorities support our enemies, cooperate with them The statement of the General Staff of Armenia s Armed Forces is about the fact that Pashinyan and his government are incompatible with Armenia s security, and its protection, the Chairman of National Agenda party Ara Hakobyan stated on Friday during the protest march organised by the opposition Homeland Salvation Movement.  Ara Hakobyan stressed that the army cannot defend the borders of the country and the security of the people remains vulnerable as long as the current leaders are in office.  The authorities disrupt, as they support our enemies, cooperate with them. The future of our country requires one precondition to be ensured - the removal of Pashinyan and accomplices of his regime, said Hakobyan.
