Kenyans love tripe (matumbo) and mutura (stuffed innards). They are cheap, easily available. Prepared well, they are tasty. Mutura is a beloved delicacy sold by the roadside and mostly at night.
When the ‘month is at the corner’, Covid-ravaged Kenyans also prefer ordering matumbo with ugali and sukuma wiki. A plate goes for less than Sh100, depending on weather the eatery is East or West of Uhuru Highway in Nairobi.
Mutura goes for between Sh10 and Sh50, also depending on location. It is best eaten on slices atop a greasy piece of wood next to the wire mesh emanating billows of smoke.

The government has issued an explanation on why it abruptly closed down a slip road connected to Nairobi s Eastern Bypass.
In a statement issued on Monday, May 24, the state, through Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA), explained that the closure of the road was necessary since it was considered a bottleneck that was causing traffic.
Motorists had raised safety concerns to the authority complaining that it had erected blockades without issuing a notice or having a warning road sign.

The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has defended itself over the traffic disruption on Mombasa Road, occasioned by the construction of the Nairobi Expressway.
In a statement on Tuesday, May 18, the road agency assured that it was addressing some overbearing factors that had made traffic on the road worse due to the ongoing rains in the city. We have initiated drainage improvement works at locations such as Nyayo Stadium Roundabout to ensure the drainage remains free-flowing at all affected locations, KeNHA revealed.
The agency noted the rains had created constrictions, as the relocation works in some instances, had interfered with the existing side drainage causing ponding of water along with certain locations on the road.
