We had a great steak dinner the other night featuring a two inch thick New York Strip from our local meat market (The best in the Southeast), and a bottle of Obsidian Cab, given to us by a friend, so yes, its another “Cab and a Slab” story. When you have good friends, a good butcher shop, a good bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon, and of course an excellent Grill Chef (me). how can you go wrong?
The color is red-black, yes, that’s very dark red. The aroma is like a basket of hot, freshly picked berries, and the flavors support that notion, with a thick, jammy. taste of blackberry and dark cherry. leading to a lingering finish which begs for another sip! The alcohol content is 14.6%, and Norm’s score is 91.

A colleague recently asked me if I approved of Big Tech censoring political and cultural voices on their platforms. My colleague believes as do I in natural rights, minimal government and that owners of private property can use it as they see fit. We both condemned the Big Tech censorship. Then he asked if the government could regulate these platforms. I offered that it could not.
These questions arose from the reported efforts by Facebook to bar from its platforms those who wish to offer scientific, political or cultural arguments against mass vaccinations. Many of these arguments are sound and fascinating. Nearly all are provocative. They are the essence of free speech. Should those who offer them be silenced on a platform used by billions of folks?

WASHINGTON The guilty verdict against former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin on all counts was correct, based on the evidence, but the theatrics leading up to that trial and after the jurors had made their decision was outrageous.
Demonstrations, riots and looting around the country since the death of George Floyd had to have influenced the jury, the media and public opinion.
Comments before, during and after the trial by politicians were unhelpful to put it mildly. Rep. Maxine Waters represents a district in California. Why did she go to Minnesota to urgepeople to “stay on the street” and “get more confrontational” if Chauvin was acquitted? She did something similar when she urgedthose opposed to Donald Trump to show up at restaurants, gas stations and other public places and get in the faces of Trump officials. Waters denied she was inciting lawless behavior, but she had no problem claiming Trump encouraged the January 6 insurrection at the U.S. Cap

What I’ve noticed lately are the things I didn’t notice before, well, maybe noticed but took for granted. Also, what I’ve noticed are the things I have noticed and never taken for granted. So, what caused this “awakening”? A simple thing like listening to a new friend.
I met “Jross” about nine months ago. She lives near us and is a very mature woman with a terrific sense of humor. We nodded to each other a few times and then I introduced myself to her. She is stooped over, walks with the aid of a walker, has hearing difficulties and, I found out, is four months shy of her 100th birthday!
