New policy offers greater transparency on costs, timing and delivery
A long-standing mechanism for funding community infrastructure has been updated to bring more consistency, transparency and fairness to the system.
Financial contributions from developers is one of the ways local governments fund new roads, paths and cycleways; water supply, sewerage and drainage connections; parks, open spaces, and community facilities for new and existing communities.

Nedlands mayor Cilla de Lacy has resigned from the western suburbs council after just 16 months in the top job.
Her exit comes just a few months after chief executive Mark Goodlet quit, to a round of applause from Nedlands ratepayers at a council meeting, as well as the organisationâs most senior planning officer.

Ms de Lacy will leave Nedlands on Wednesday, which is the same day Mr Goodlet finishes at the local government.

New development controls respond to community demand for protection of streetscape and neighbourhood amenity
Planning Minister Rita Saffioti has approved a local planning scheme amendment to guide future infill development within the City of Joondalup’s 10 Housing Opportunity Areas.
The amendment to the City of Joondalup’s Local Planning Scheme No. 3 introduces a set of development standards to ensure integrated housing diversity and infill is located within appropriate locations, close to train stations, in activity centres and on corner lots.
