The suspect, a 21-year-old British man, was apprehended by armed NCA officers near the Crown Point Shopping area of the city. The suspect fled to the UK after 19-year-old Ulrich Perez was stabbed in an alleged road rage incident in Estepona on 18 November. The victim was almost run over by a car at a pedestrian crossing and the driver, who had initially left the scene, returned a few minutes later and stabbed the victim in the heart. The attack happened in broad daylight outside the victim’s home. A European Arrest Warrant was issued for the suspect’s arrest and NCA officers, working closely with Spanish National Police in Estepona, detained him on Tuesday [22 December]. He remains in custody awaiting extradition.

A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder in Leeds in connection with a fatal stabbing in Spain.
Ulrich Perez, 19, was stabbed in an alleged road incident in Estepona, in southern Spain, on 18 November.
A British national, aged 21, was sought by Spain s National Police and a European Arrest Warrant was issued.
The National Crime Agency (NCA) said the man was detained in Leeds on Tuesday, near the Crown Point Shopping retail park.
The NCA said Mr Perez had been almost run over by a car at a pedestrian crossing and the driver, who initially left the scene, returned shortly afterwards and stabbed him in the heart.
The 21-year-old, who has not been identified, was arrested on the outskirts of Leeds, in Yorkshire, today.
He had been at the centre of a five-week manhunt that began on November 18 after the stabbing in Estapona, 15 miles west of Marbella, in Spain.
