They include 4 in the Kenora Health Hub, 2 in the Sioux Lookout Health Hub and 1 in the Dryden Health Hub. Follow-ups with those involved and their contacts have started according to protocols, and anyone identified as a potential contact for these cases will be reached directly by public health staff. Overall, the NWHU reports a total of 27 COVID-19 cases in the area. They include 17 in Sioux Lookout, 5 in Kenora, 1 in Fort Frances and 4 in Dryden.

Six new cases are in the Sioux Lookout Health Hub and one new case is in the Dryden Health Hub. There are currently 53 active cases in the region. 32 active cases are in the Sioux Lookout Health Hub, 16 active cases are in the Kenora Health Hub, three active cases in the Fort Frances Health Hub and one active case in each the Emo and Dryden Health Hubs. Follow-ups with those involved and their contacts have started, and anyone identified as a contact for these cases will be reached directly by public health staff.

Two Outbreaks Over Two Still Ongoing

Two COVID-19 outbreaks declared in the Rainy River District have now been declared over. The Northwestern Health Unit says outbreaks at an Easter outdoor church service in Emo and Sturgeon Creek Alternative Program school are no longer concerns. Medical Officer of Health Dr. Kit Young Hoon says there are still two workplace outbreaks at the New Gold Rainy River mine and Munn and Yates in Fort Frances they’re still monitoring. “Those are continuing to be monitored, and we continue to work with the works places to ensure that outbreak measures are in place,” says Dr. Young Hoon. The Health Unit is also finding some people aren’t following the public health measures asked of them.
