Liquid Wind awards Worley renewable methanol contract

Advertisement Liquid Wind AB (Liquid Wind) has awarded Worley a front-end engineering design (FEED) services and cost estimate contract for its renewable methanol facility called FlagshipONE in Örnsköldsvik, Northern Sweden. The facility is expected to produce 50 000 tpy of methanol by reacting carbon dioxide and green hydrogen together to form renewable methanol (also referred to as electro-methanol or eMethanol). The feedstock for the facility will use biogenic carbon dioxide from a biomass-fired power plant and green hydrogen, which is made through the electrolysis of water that is powered by renewable electricity. The methanol produced is intended to provide a sustainable alternative to fossil fuels and a potential pathway to reduce carbon emissions in marine transportation.

Liquid Wind selects Worley to design its first renewable methanol facility

Liquid Wind selects Worley to design its first renewable methanol facility 5/11/2021 Worley has been awarded a front-end engineering design (FEED) services contract for a power-to-fuel project in Sweden. Liquid Wind plans to build its first commercial scale eMethanol facility in Örnsköldsvik, northern Sweden. The facility is expected to produce 50,000 tons of renewable methanol every year. The feedstock for the facility will use biogenic carbon dioxide from a biomass-fired power plant and combine it with green hydrogen, made from renewable electricity and water, to produce eMethanol. This provides an alternative to fossil fuels and a potential pathway to reduce carbon emissions by over 90 per cent in marine transportation. eMethanol can also be used as a building block in the production of other sustainable chemicals. These include acetic acid, formaldehyde and olefins. This synthetic methanol can contribute to the decarbonization of industries such as adhesives, solvents and p

Chevron Awards GOM Services Contract

Worley will establish a subsea tieback development scheme for the Ballymore field. Chevron (NYSE: CVX) has awarded Worley (ASX: WOR) an engineering and procurement services contract to provide brownfield modification services for a subsea tieback to a Gulf of Mexico (GOM) deepwater production facility, Worley reported Thursday. Worley pointed out the project will establish a subsea tieback development scheme for the Ballymore field, located in 6,581 feet (2,006 meters) of water in Block 607 of the GOM’s Mississippi Canyon area. Additionally, the firm stated that it will support the subsea and topsides designs and provide procurement services for the topsides work scope.
