Whew.
We have absolutely no fear of contradiction when we say that 2020 has been an extremely odd spin around the Sun. What started off as a year of tremendous promise descended into the most challenging 366 days globally for probably two generations.
The lows of 2020 will likely mean that few will look back on this year fondly, but there have been a good few highlights to brighten up the last 12 months too. We’re taking a quick look at what 2020 has brought in this, our traditional end-of-year review.

The 2020 FIA Certified Gran Turismo Online Championships are now over. Gran Turismo and the FIA have crowned their world champions, and in case you missed it that was Team Subaru in the Manufacturer Series, and Japan’s Takuma Miyazono in the Nations Cup.
In fact Miyazono scored a clean sweep, bagging the World Tour in Sydney back in February, the online competition throughout the year, the Toyota GR Supra GT Cup, and, as a member of Team Subaru, the Manufacturer Series in addition to the Nations Cup win. It’s the first time one driver has won both FIA trophies in the same season.
Japan’s Takuma Miyazono has cemented his place as the world’s best Gran Turismo driver in 2020, by adding the Nations Cup title to his Manufacturer Series and Supra GT Cup crowns.
The first driver to achieve the Nations/Manufacturers double in a single season, Miyazono has gone through 2020 undefeated, winning both the only World Tour that took place this year, in Sydney, and the Asia-Oceania regional final too as well as the Asia section of the online season!
Things didn’t entirely go to plan for Miyazono to start with however. Despite starting from pole position in the first race, using the new Toyota GR Yaris at Fuji Speedway, what looked like a rare tactical error from the favorite resulted in a ninth-place finish.
