At the Saitama District Court on Thursday, presiding judge Shuko Ichiba handed Olugun, 55, the fine of 100,000 yen, which was the punishment sought by prosecutors.
According to the ruling, Olugun used his right hand to strike his wife, a Japanese national, on the left side of her face at their residence in Urawa Ward, Saitama City on May 16, 2020.

The Saitama District Court has fined TV personality and former mixed martial artist Bobby Ologun for assaulting his wife last year.
According to the ruling on Thursday, Nigerian-born Ologun, 55, who has Japanese citizenship and goes by the name Bobby Konda, assaulted his then 46-year-old Japanese wife, by hitting her in the face at their home in Urawa Ward, on May 16 last year, Sankei Shimbun reported. Ologun’s wife called 110 and said her husband had beaten her.
The woman suffered a fractured right cheekbone and an injury to her right wrist. She was quoted by police as saying her husband struck her after she rebuked him for opening a letter addressed to her.
