Digital rights group calls for Facebook users to join legal battle against tech giant
A digital rights group is calling for individuals impacted by the recent Facebook breach affecting 533m users, including 1.5m users in Ireland, to join its legal case against the tech giant.
Digital Rights Ireland (DRI) has already made a complaint to the Data Protection Commission (DPC) and is now preparing to take a ‘mass action’ case to the courts on behalf of individuals impacted by the breach.
It emerged earlier this month that a dataset with personal details, including the names, phone numbers and email addresses, of more than half a billion Facebook users had been scraped and posted online.
