CT red flag law only major gun bill moving forward this year

Connecticut’s “red flag” law is close to getting what Democrats see as critical updates for firearm safety.
This proposed revision to the current risk warrant law is the single biggest legislation raised on firearms this session, said State Rep. Steve Stafsrom, D-Bridgeport, who chairs the Judiciary Committee.
“While the (risk warrant) measure has helped to prevent hundreds of unnecessary deaths, there are clear vulnerabilities in the existing statute,” he said.
The bill being sent to the state House addresses who can seek a risk warrant, how long they stay in effect and prevents those potentially posing a risk from acquiring new firearms while the warrant stands.

The Bethel CT Pride organisation issued a statement describing the vandalism as a “heinous, hateful act”.
Molten Java Cafe’s flag was a “beacon of inclusivity and community that flew outside of the space,” they said, making it a safe haven to the LGBT+ community before the local Pride group was formed.
Out state representative Raghib Allie-Brennan described the incident as a hate crime and said it was “heartbreaking” to hear of such things happening in Bethel.
Flag Burned Outside of Molten Java, Bethel Police Investigate and Seek Public s Help to ID Suspects Written by HH
Bethel Police report that on Sunday, April 4, they were dispatched to 213 Greenwood Ave, Molten Java, for a report of a flag being burned during the night.
Officers responded and determined that a rainbow flag that had been hanging at the business on the outside porch had been removed and damaged during the overnight hours.
Video surveillance of the inside was obtained and shows two individuals removing the flag from the business and leaving the area. One of the individuals is later seen returning the damaged flag, police say.
