Biomanufacturing Training and Education Center s response to COVID-19 helps keep NCSU a safer place

Biotech Center and WRAL TechWire announced recently the launch of the Bio Jobs Hub, a project designed to match workers and employers in the growing NC life science community. Each Wednesday TechWire plans to feature a story about what’s happening in life science careers.  This week’s feature highlights the relationship between the NC State Golden LEAF Biomanufacturing Training and Education Center, or BTEC, and Novozymes. BTEC continues to produce hand sanitizer for NC State and also for the N.C. Museum of Natural Sciences in downtown Raleigh. Since starting last May, BTEC has produced more than 2,400 gallons of hand sanitizer. It was a new experience for BTEC to obtain the necessary alcohol permits and FDA approval to produce hand sanitizer. Good job news: North Carolina high-tech openings rank No 4 in US, new report says

RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK – If you are looking for a high-tech job, your prospects of finding one in the Triangle and North Carolina are improving. So says a new report. National IT organization CompTIA ranked North Carolina No. 4 on its list of the top states for tech job postings. The state recorded 12,726 total postings in February, an increase of 2,949 since January. It also ranked No. 4 among the top states for remote/work-from-home jobs, recording 3,462 listings in February, up by 992 since January. Tech talent remains at a premium in the Raleigh metro area, which ranked No. 10 on CompTIA’s list of the top metros for tech job postings change. The city’s job postings increased by 1,064 since January, now totaling 4,221.

Each Wednesday TechWire plans to feature a story about what’s happening in life science careers.  RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK – Life sciences companies from around the state, nation and world are expanding their capacity to manufacture pharmaceuticals and biological therapies in North Carolina. Expansions announced in 2020 will bring more than $2.3 billion in investment and 2,800 new jobs in biopharma manufacturing to the state in coming months and years.
