In addition to completing the first few weeks of summer quarter at Treasure Valley Community College, we also celebrated the graduation of High School Equivalency Program (HEP) students. Like our commencement ceremonies in June, we had originally planned to recognize these graduates with a drive-through event since COVID-19 restrictions limited indoor gatherings. A few days before the event, with temperatures well-above 100 degrees, we were afraid we would have to cancel the celebration, since the heat would be unbearable for an outside activity.
Fortunately, COVID restrictions in Oregon were lifted the day before the graduation ceremonies, and we were able to move the celebration indoors to the Meyer-McLean Theater in the Four Rivers Cultural Center last Thursday. Thanks to the Cultural Center staff and Executive Director Matt Stringer for helping save this celebration. And thank you, to the HEP team at TVCC for your flexibility.
