A residential area to the north of St Albans, New Greens offers family-friendly accommodation at a marginally more affordable price than some other areas of the city.
While the bulk of the New Greens estate was built in the post-war years as part of the government s expansion policy, there are some older and more modern homes in the mix.

A free local community library offering residents the chance to share their favourite reads with their neighbours has been unveiled.
The New Greens Book Shed (NGBS) allows people to take books, read them, and then return and exchange them.
Open 24/7 at Christchurch in High Oaks, it aims to offer the benefit of free books within a short distance for those who can’t easily travel to a library or book shop.

Members of Christ Church in St Albans marked Mother s Day with bunches of daffodils

Mother s Day looked a bit different for scores of people this year, as the coronavirus pandemic and ongoing lockdown prevented many annual traditions from taking place as usual.
Determined not to let the occasion go unmarked, members of Christ Church in New Greens, St Albans decided to put together bunches of flowers for mothers in the congregation and wider community.
The church s annual Mother s Day tradition usually involves the giving of a bunch of daffodils to all the ladies at the Sunday service. With services now broadcast online, this year they decided to do door to door deliveries of the spring flowers instead.
