After taking a break last summer because of the COVID-19 pandemic, plans are underway for this year’s Logan Summerfest. The arts faire will be held at the Cache County Fairgrounds in June, rather than the grounds of the Logan Tabernacle due to renovations at the tabernacle this summer.
Artists who were accepted for last year’s cancelled show are automatically invited for this year and all artists, whether or not they were accepted last year, need to register to participate by Feb. 7. The deadline is the same for food vendors and performers.
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints announced Thursday that the church’s upcoming April General Conference will be virtual only.
According to the press release, the format of the conference will mirror the October session where only the speakers and their spouses for a given session were present at the meeting and the music was pre-recorded from previous general conferences.

More vaccination updates came from Gov. Spencer Cox during a press conference on Thursday.
“We are assembling a small army of trained volunteers to help them, Cox said. We told them wherever their constraints, any problems you have, let us know. If you need more money, we will write the check. If you need more personnel, we will find personnel for you. If you need technical support, we will get you that technical support.”
Cox said Utah vaccine efforts are going well, thanks to the state’s 13 local health departments.
He said the state has received the second doses for those who have been vaccinated, and is asking everyone who has appointments for the second dose to keep them.

The late Representative LaWanna Shurtliff was remembered by her colleagues in the state House and Senate on Tuesday for her many contributions to the state, including those as a lawmaker and an educator.
“She served two stints in this chamber from 1999 to 2008, and was elected again a decade later. Her service to the people of Utah went well beyond the legislature. Lou taught thousands of students English, accounting and business at Ogden High School for nearly three decades,” said House Speaker Brad Wilson.
Wilson and Senate President Stuart Adams both called for a moment of silence in honor of Shurtliff in their respective chambers during Tuesday’s opening day ceremonies and acknowledged her in their remarks.
