The Central Bureau of Investigation filed a charge sheet on Friday against all four accused in the alleged gang rape and murder case of a 19-year-old Dalit woman in Uttar Pradesh’s Hathras, officials said.
The top investigation agency invoked charges of gang rape and murder against accused Sandeep, Luvkush, Ravi and Ramu, their lawyer told reporters outside the local court in Hathras. The court has taken cognisance of the matter, he added.
The Dalit woman was allegedly raped by the four accused from an “upper caste” community in Hathras on September 14. She later died on September 29 while undergoing treatment at the Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi.

Hathras (Uttar Pradesh): The four accused in the alleged gang-rape and torture of a young Dalit woman in Uttar Pradesh s Hathras in September were charged today by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) of gang-rape and murder, over three months after the incident that had triggered a massive outrage across the nation.
The CBI has also raised charges against the accused under the Schedule Caste/Schedule Tribe (SC/ST) (Prevention of Atrocities) Act. The probe agency had filed a charge sheet under Sections 354, 376 A, 376 D and 302 of Indian Penal Code (IPC) before the court in Hathras, some 200 km from Delhi.

New Delhi, Dec 18 : The four accused in the alleged gang rape and torture of a young Dalit woman in Uttar Pradesh s Hathras in September, have been charged for gang-rape and murder by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in the SC/ST court here.
This information was given by the lawyer of the accused.
The CBI has put the charge of gang-rape and murder against Sandeep, Luvkush, Ravi and Ramu in a local court in Hathras. The court has taken cognisance of it, lawyer for the accused told reporters outside the court.

Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) [India], December 16 (ANI): The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) was unable to file a status report on the Hathras rape case in the Lucknow bench of Allahabad High Court on Wednesday after which the court set the next date of hearing as January 27, 2021.
The High Court questioned the state government on the non-removal of Hathras District Magistrate (DM) Praveen Kumar on which the government lawyer said that there is no direct complaint against Kumar.
