Haridwar (Uttrakhand) [India], January 17 (ANI): A mix of religious and cultural features of Hinduism, Maha Kumbh Mela in Haridwar has been filled with colors of folk tradition and culture this year.
With Paint My City , a campaign being run by the Haridwar-Roorkee Development Authority has painted walls at the places of tourist interest from the Hindu mythology.
Uttarakhand Urban Development Minister, Madan Kaushik said that various organizations have been involved in decorating the Kumbh Mela area with paintings, as per the government s intention.

Indian government officials expect “several million” people to gather in northern India’s Uttarakhand state over the next several weeks as part of the Hindu Kumbh Mela pilgrimage.
Four different cities in India alternate hosting duties for Kumbh Mela. “This year, beginning Thursday [January 14], Haridwar is the host, and several million people were expected to throng the holy city in Uttarakhand over the coming seven weeks,” Agence France-Presse (AFP) reported Wednesday.
“The pandemic is a bit of a worry, but we are taking all precautions,” festival organizer Siddharth Chakrapani told AFP, adding that he “expected between 8,00,000 to 10 lakh [1 million] people to attend on Thursday alone.”

Dehradun: Uttarakhand Urban Development Minister Madan Kaushik on Sunday said that the 2021 Kumbh fair, which is to be organised in Haridwar, will be a 48-day-long event.
The Uttarakhand government will issue the notification for the fair by February end.
The Minister also said that preparations have been made for main baths to be held in March-April due to the Covid-19 pandemic, however, the devotees can take the royal bath during these 48 days.
