#EndSARS: Ex-Finance Minister, Nenadi Usman demands N5bn over murder of niece On By Ikechukwu Nnochiri Former Minister of Finance, Senator Nenadi Usman, on yesterday, approached the Independent Investigative Panel on human rights violations by the defunct Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS, and other Units of the Nigeria Police Force, sitting in Abuja, to seek redress for the extra-judicial murder of her niece, Miss Anita Akapson, by a trigger-happy police officer in 2018. 31-year old Miss Akapson was shot at close range by a Deputy Superintendent of Police, Godwin Wagozie, on October 13, 2018. The Police initially claimed that the deceased who had just returned to Nigeria after her graduation from Kent University in the United Kingdom, was killed in a case of mistaken identity. It stated that an officer shot her because he thought she was an armed robber that was escaping from the scene of a crime.

Resumption of service at Registration Department, Magistrates Courts

Article by Social Share The Registration Department located at the Supreme Court Complex, Whitepark Road, St Michael and all of the Magistrates’ Courts islandwide will recommence service with effect from Monday, March 1, from 8.30 a.m. to 3.15 p.m. A notice issued by Barbados Government Information Service today said “members of the public conducting business at any of these locations must adhere strictly to the protocols in place at the Registration Department located at the Supreme Court Complex and at all of the Magistrates’ Courts”. Fishcopfed: RO flouts order of Central Registrar; declares results

The Fishcopfed elections witnessed a complete breakdown of constitutional provisions on Thursday-Friday when both the Returning Officer and the Central Registrar indulged more in whims than in the established norms in conducting their respective responsibilities. Despite an order suspending the election proceedings, the Returning Officer went ahead with initiating the poll-process and announcing the results. 11 out of 12 directors from the previous board were elected unopposed. Not only that,a Special General Meeting was also held, a day later on Friday, when the Central Registrar order had become a widely known fact. As if respecting the Central Registrar’s order, the elections of Chairman and Vice-Chairman were postponed. What a generosity!

Fishcopfed: Cent Registrar postpones election; appoints Arbitrator

Central Registrar of Cooperative Societies Vivek Aggarwal has issued a letter suspending the ongoing election process of Fishcopfed till the completion of the arbitration proceedings. This has created a ruckus in the corridors of the apex body of fishery cooperatives-Fishcopfed. Despite being aware of the suspension of the proceedings, Returning Officer is being alleged to have carried his job. The letter was issued on Thursday morning while Joseph Baxla, Assistant Registrar, Delhi appointed as the RO to oversee the election process, had carried out all the formalities of the election process including the release of the final list of candidates after withdrawal on the same day.
