The Sindh home department issued a new notification on Tuesday with a partial modification, extending the Covid-19 lockdown till May 16.
The notification reads, “In continuation and partial modification of this department’s order of even number dated March 31, 2021, and in pursuance of the decisions at the NCOC forum communicated vide letters, the Government of Sindh, in exercise of the powers under Section 3 (1) of Sindh Epidemic Diseases Act 2014 (The Sindh Act VIII of 2015), is pleased to re-direct as under with immediate effect and till 16th May, 2021, unless changed or amended earlier.”
It says there will be broader lockdowns in areas having more than eight per cent positivity rate with stringent enforcement protocols based on risk assessment, and no mobility will be allowed except in emergency by commissioners and deputy commissioners under the Sindh Epidemic Diseases Act 2014.
Two more fall victim to corona in Faisalabad

FAISALABAD: Two more COVID-19 patients died in Faisalabad on Monday. According to a spokesperson for the health department, the COVID-19 death toll rose to 691 in the district and 153 people were tested positive for coronavirus during the last 24 hours. He said 1,515 people were tested for coronavirus in public and private sector hospitals during the same period. He said so far 10,246 patients had recovered from the disease while total active cases in Faisalabad reached 4,110. He said 220 beds were allocated at the Allied Hospital and 107 at the DHQ hospital for COVID-19 patients. At present, 212 patients, including 138 confirmed ones, were under treatment at the Allied Hospital while 106, including 60 confirmed, were admitted to DHQ hospital and 2,486 patients have quarantined themselves at homes.
Maintain composure during duty, city police force told

The Coimbatore City Police have given strict instructions to personnel attached to all the police stations and traffic units to maintain composure while doing regular duty and enforcing restrictions announced by the State government for the management COVID-19 pandemic.
The instructions were given after a Sub-Inspector attached to the Kattoor police station was caught on camera beating up the diners and the staff of a hotel at Gandhipuram with a lathi on Sunday night. The officer, Muthu, was placed under suspension on Monday evening after the incident drew strong criticism from various quarters.

Rawalpindi: Rawalpindi district administration on the special directives of Chief Minister Punjab Sardar Usman Buzdar, has set up 16 Ramazan Bazaars for uninterrupted supply of daily use commodities at affordable rates during the holy month.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) Rawalpindi Captain (r) Anwar-ul-Haq has said that the district administration had finalized a plan to provide relief to the citizens during Ramazan.
He said, all-out efforts would be made to provide relief to the people during Ramazan as a plan had been finalized to ensure availability of all essential commodities in the markets at affordable rates.
