An FIR has been lodged against eight Twitter handles for allegedly propagating fake and misleading news in connection with the death of two girls in Unnao last week, police said on Monday.
The case was registered at the Sadar Kotwali police station area in Unnao on Sunday. Amongst the Twitter handles is the news portal Mojo Story , which is led by senior journalist Barkha Dutt. After the complaint, Dutt termed the FIR a case of brazen harassment and bullying .
The superintendent of police (SP) Anand Kulkarni alleged that the claims made by Raj were untrue and the post was intended to create anger through misleading rumours
