WARREN The Food Soldier Hunger Coalition, a Columbus-based organization, was in the city today passing out boxes of food for those in need at Monument of Faith Church of God in Christ on the city’s southwest side.
The group made the trip from Columbus because one of the volunteers and site coordinator for the group, Juliana Julian, grew up in Warren and wanted to give back to her hometown.
“This is where my roots are. I was able to get a truck here and I wanted to give back to my community,” Julian said.
With help from approximately 50 volunteers from various churches and groups in Trumbull County, about 1,200 boxes of food were distributed to families and some apartment complexes in the area. The church served as the epicenter of the distribution with truck loads of food going to some of the complexes.
