Welcome to Feel Good Friday, here are your Feel Good Stories of the week.
A 4-year-old boy in Texas lived his dream to be a Fireman this past weekend, but ‘Make-A-Wish’ went a step further. He wasn’t just a Firefighter, he became Fire Chief. Justin Perez has battled a brain tumor for the past 2 years and when he was selected by the Make-A-Wish Foundation, he had only one request to be a Fireman. Justin’s Mother Laura Moreno saying: “I have no words to explain it. It’s amazing. You know we were expecting something big, but this honestly beyond words.” There was a full parade as well as other events all to make Justin’s Wish come true.

FIVE Basingstoke schoolboys are completing a ‘Marathon for Mind’ to raise money and awareness for Mental Health Awareness Week. Aldworth School Year 10 pupils James Wood, Ethan Hockley, Charles Pierce and Max Pierce, and Andrew Aylward in Year 8 are all members of the school’s Charity Club and are collectively running 26.2 miles on treadmills after school this week to raise funds for the charity Mind, which supports people experiencing mental health difficulties. Ethan told the Gazette: “We found the training to be ok, but different to the actual challenge because we trained outside and not on treadmills. We slowly built up our training over the last few weeks by running around the playground before school so that we were in a good position to tackle the challenge.”

The Van Wert Parks & Recreation Department is accepting applications for local non-profit organizations to provide concessions in Fountain Park during the Feel-Good Friday concert series.
This summer there will be 11 dates where concessions will be needed, starting May 28 and running through August 20. The June 4 and August 6 concerts will not be open for vendors.
In years’ past, non-profit groups have sold concessions (non-alcohol) during the concert series to earn revenue that would go to their non-profit groups. The determination of groups has yet to be decided and will depend greatly upon the number of organizations that register.
