Shashi Kumar being the latest to fall victim. Mr. Kumar said that he got to know of a fake Facebook account in his name on Sunday evening soon after receiving a call from his friend who stated that there was request made for ₹6,000 through that social media account. In a message posted on his Facebook account, Mr. Kumar said, “A fake account with same photo and details created. all be careful. because someone may start requesting to transfer some money. all be alert on such requests.”

‘Current norms almost impossible to follow’ The Democratic Youth Federation of India on Saturday said though the government had permitted solemnisation of marriages during the fortnight curfew, people were finding it hard to follow the conditions imposed for the same. As such, there was a need to simplify the conditions and also allow shops selling marriage essentials, said DYFI State president Muneer Katipalla. While permissions were being given only for marriages, the Additional Superintendent of Police in Udupi district organised the mehandi programme of his daughter’s marriage on Friday, thus indicating that different yardsticks were being applied to the common man and the powerful, he said in a statement here.

Jagadeesha were among those who were on the ground in Mangaluru and Udupi booking cases against establishments that were open to ensure compliance with the health protocol.
