UDUPI: Udupi-Chikkamagaluru Member of Parliament Shobha Karandlaje said the nexus of urban naxals and farmers agitating for the repeal of farm laws is evident.
Notwithstanding the fact that these pieces of legislation were discussed threadbare in the standing parliamentary committee in which senior Congress leaders Amarinder Singh and Kamal Nath were present, the Congress is tacitly supporting this agitation for purely political reasons, she said.
Interacting with reporters on the side-lines of BJPs Jan Sevak Samavesha organised by the district unit of the party here on Tuesday, Shobha said the upswing in agitations against the bills months after they became law of the land smacks of deep rooted political conspiracy. While the farmers are benefiting from these new farm laws, the agitators demanding release of likes of Umar Khalid involved in the JNU sedition row puts the issue into perspective.
