Planet Fitness hopes to open by the end of the year after getting the go-ahead to operate a health club at the former Bed Bath & Beyond site.
The Board of Selectmen voted 5-0 to grant Planet Fitness a special permit to run a health club, fitness studio and personal fitness center at 327-357 Broadway.
Steve Venezia, vice president of development for CDM Fitness Holdings, an independent franchisee of Planet Fitness, said Planet Fitness is a judgment-free gym.
Planet Fitness caters to the 80% of people who don’t have gym memberships, Venezia said. The company prides itself on a lot of cardio, workout equipment and televisions.
