Noida airport: UP cabinet OKs 1,365 hectare land for second phase of upcoming Jewar airport

Noida (UP), Mar 17: The Uttar Pradesh cabinet has approved a proposal for acquisition of another 1,365 hectare land in Jewar for the second phase of the upcoming Noida International Airport, according to an official statement.
The cabinet also approved an expenditure of Rs 2,890 crore for the land acquisition, besides resettlement and rehabilitation of the people who will be affected by the expansion of the greenfield project, it stated.
The decision was taken by the cabinet at a meeting in Lucknow on Tuesday evening.

Islamabad, Mar 17: Pakistan s election commission has sent notices to Prime Minister Imran Khan-led Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf party and its own scrutiny committee to appear before it on March 22 to explain their stance over keeping secret the party s foreign funding documents, according to a media report on Wednesday.

The notices follow a complaint by Akbar S Babar, a dissident founding member of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) against the scrutiny committee s decision to keep the party s documents secret.
A three-member Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) bench headed by Justice (retd) Irshad Qaiser heard the complaint, Geo News reported. The notices were issued before the ECP decided on the secrecy of scrutiny in the PTI s foreign funding case.

Delhi, Mar 17: Five States- Maharashtra, Punjab, Karnataka, Gujarat and Tamil Nadu- continue to drive up India s Active Cases last 24 hours. 83.91% of the new cases are from Maharashtra, Punjab, Karnataka, Gujarat and Tamil Nadu and Kerala.

While Maharashtra alone accounts for 61.8% of the daily new cases with 17,864 cases, it is followed by Kerala with 1,970 cases and Punjab reported 1,463 new cases.
Six States account for 86.7% of the new deaths, of which, Maharashtra saw the maximum casualties (87), followed by Punjab 38 daily deaths and Kerala reported 15 deaths.
Kerala is reporting a consistently declining trend over the last one month.
BHU students oppose proposal to make Nita Ambani as visiting professor

Varanasi, Mar 16: Opposing a proposal to make Reliance Industries executive director Nita Ambani as a visiting professor, students staged a demonstration at Banaras Hindu University on Tuesday.
Shubham Tiwari, one of the protesting students, said instead of Ambani, those who have set an example of women empowerment should be invited.
