ENGLEWOOD, Colo. As the Broncos finished their morning walkthrough on Friday during their 2021 rookie minicamp, Head Coach Vic Fangio looked to the sky.
Overhead, a cadre of five jets flew over UCHealth Training Center in tight formation. In the spring sky, the jets split off from each other, reversed course and roared back over the Broncos facility in a single-file line.
Fangio on the field with nine of the team s draft picks and a collection of nearly two dozen college free agents, tryout players and first-year players thought at once of the work that the routine must have required.

The Broncos held a workout for 5 veteran offensive lineman Wednesday at UC Health Training Center, and shortly after reached an agreement on a 1-year deal for $4 Million with
Bobby Massie, who has 110 career starts for the Cardinals and Bears.
The 31-year-old will be penciled in to start, after incumbent starter
Ja Wuan James tore his achilles last week. Massie has been pretty durable in his 9 year career, but the last 2 have seen him miss 6 games and 8 respectively.

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. The Broncos have signed five of their 2021 draft picks to rookie contracts.
Safeties Caden Sterns and Jamar Johnson, wide receiver Seth Williams, cornerback Kary Vincent Jr. and defensive end Marquiss Spencer all signed their rookie deals on Thursday.
Sterns and Johnson were selected in the fifth round, and figure to compete for reserve roles behind starters Justin Simmons and Kareem Jackson. Sterns was a three-year starter in college and recorded 172 tackles, 8.5 tackles for loss, two sacks, 13 passes defensed and five interceptions during his 29 career games with Texas. Johnson, whom the Broncos took with their next selection, led Indiana in interceptions in 2020 and was named a first-team All-Big Ten player.

Ja Wuan James was set to make a return to the field after opting out of the 2020 season. Now Denver has a gaping hole on the right side of it s offense just days after the draft, as James tore his achilles working out away from the team facility on his own.
James signed as a free agent before the 2019 season, agreeing to 4-year $51 Million Dollar Contract, with $32 Million guaranteed to come over from Miami. At the time, it made James the highest paid right tackle in the history of football. Injuries, however plagued James almost immediately when the season began and he was only able to play 63 offensive snaps in just 3 starts.

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. As Courtland Sutton works toward a return to the field in 2021, Head Coach Vic Fangio said he can t imagine Sutton doing better in his rehab from an ACL injury. He s doing really, really good, Fangio said Saturday after the 2021 NFL Draft. I watch him, I see him work out every day. I talk to him every day in the training room and I can t imagine that he could be doing any better than he is at this stage in rehab. I see him running, I see him in the weight room. He s got an unbelievable attitude. It s been infectious to the other guys that are rehabbing.
