“Topping Out” Ceremony held at The Monument, Summit Arena
The completion of the steel framework at The Monument and Summit Arena was commemorated with a ceremony that celebrated the hard work of those who have worked on the project.

RAPID CITY, S.D. The structural framework of the monument is now complete.
This morning, a “Topping Out” ceremony was held at the Summit Arena to signify and celebrate the hard work construction workers have put into the project.
Construction members signed the last structure beam that was put into place, which also featured an evergreen, that traditionally serves as a good luck charm, and the South Dakota, U.S. And The Monument’s flags.

Nathan Kleinschmit, Assistant Operations Manager of the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center/Ice Arena, says, “There has been a few times where we’ve had hockey one night and then a concert, you know, is moving in at seven in the morning the next day and it turns into an all night crew, everybody works hard but kind of get rallied together and usually end up getting everything done and ready to go.”
Tomahawks vs. Generals Game 3 1:06 am
Inside the 1st Summit Arena at Cambria County War Memorial, the Northeast Generals and the Johnstown Tomahawks for game three of the weekend on Sunday. Sam Evola in the net makes a great save and Johnstown leads 2-0 heading into the Second Period.
Brendan Clark takes a shot. Jay Ahearn there for the rebound, but the Generals’ Goalie denies. Here come the Tomahawks in 2 on 1 action. Reed Stark puts one in the net and the Tomahawks take a 3-0 lead. And it stayed that way in the second. Evola again. He had a strong presence in the net. He only allowed one goal on 26 shots. Ahead in the third, Tomahawks get a little lucky that somehow this puck didn’t cross the line.
