McKINNEY, TX – Team South Dakota’s bid for a national championship ended Sunday when the Alaska Stars had a 6-2 quarterfinal win in the 2A tournament of USA Hockey’s Tier II 14U National Championship.
Team South Dakota fell behind 3-0 before Pierre’s Carter Sanderson scored just over 11 minutes into the second period for his second goal in as many games. Team SD scored again to make the score 3-2 before the team from Alaska controlled the rest of the game.
Team South Dakota had won all three of its pool play games to enter the quarterfinals as the top seed.
