To date, $321,343 has been secured to fund the construction of the trail and $1.419 million has been collected for the construction of the bridge. Alongside the province, the project’s contributors include the federal government, the Whistler Blackcomb Foundation, and Innergex Renewable Energy. “The goal has always been to bring this project to fruition without local taxation… There’s quite a bit of funds involved, so it took years to do it and the fact that there’s… so much support for it; it’s wonderful,” said Pemberton Mayor Mike Richman. The project is a great example of teamwork in the region, SLRD Area C director Russell Mack said. “Everybody’s working together, so it’s going to be really good when it’s finished,” he said.
