Chet Holmgren unzipped his sweater to reveal a t-shirt with images of himself in a Gonzaga jersey on the Monday afternoon edition of SportsCenter. The No. 1 overall recruit in the class of 2021 according to ESPN, Rivals, and 247 Sports will head to college to play for a Zags program that just came excruciatingly close to being crowned men’s college basketball first undefeated national champion since Indiana in 1976.
Holmgren is a self-described “6’12 big guard” who established himself as a blue chip prospect during a dominant high school career at Minneapolis’ Minnehaha Academy. Holmgren teamed with Jalen Suggs for his first three years of high school basketball at Minnehaha, and he’s following Suggs’ footsteps again by choosing Gonzaga. Like Suggs, Holmgren is also expected to be a top NBA draft pick after one season in Spokane.

SPOKANE, Wash. Gonzaga Bulldogs freshman Jalen Suggs has declared for the NBA Draft.
Suggs made the announcement on Twitter, saying he is officially turning pro, along with auctioning off his signed shoes from the NCAA Tournament the same ones he wore sinking the buzzer beater three-pointer against UCLA and sending Gonzaga to the national championships.

The 19-year-old averaged 14.4 points, 5.3 rebounds and 4.5 assists per game in the 2020-21 season, helping lead Gonzaga to a 31-1 record and a trip to the NCAA tournament final. He paired with sophomore Drew Timme and senior Corey Kispert to give the Bulldogs the best Big Three in college basketball.

Former Gonzaga Bulldogs big man Pavel Zakharov has officially transferred to the California Baptist Lancers, he announced on his Instagram today.
The Lancers went 13-10 last season and ranked No. 229 in KenPom. Pavel’s arrival will be welcomed by head coach Rick Croy, who might potentially be losing the services of his senior center Gorjak Gak (if he does not decide to exercise another year of eligibility).
Zakharov arrived at Gonzaga as a four-star prospect ranked No. 60 in the nation by 247 Sports. Unfortunately, being in the same class as Drew Timme and Anton Watson created some difficulties for the Russian big man to find playing time in his two years at Gonzaga.
