Good Friday morning!
It’s pretty clear Gov. Murphy is relishing the attention his predecessor continues to get by appearing on TV and teasing a presidential campaign. Murphy this week nixed a bill that would have essentially re-started and made permanent former Gov. Chris Christie’s Red Tape Review Commission, taking a couple big shots at Christie in the process.
The alleged victim has her own history with alcohol abuse, and Schweizer once obtained a restraining order against her several years ago, Palazzo said. Most telling in the restraining order is that the alleged victim indicated if he slept in the living room, she would call the police and falsely accuse him of rape, Palazzo said. So she already has the basis to make a false accusation.
Palazzo said the woman declined to give police a written statement at the scene of the alleged rape on April 21. When she was brought to the local hospital, she was so intoxicated she declined medical treatment and threw bodily fluids at the staff, he said.
Man who had sexual assault charges controversially dropped jailed on new charges
Updated May 04, 2021;
The son of a former county official, who in 2017 was charged with sexual assault in a case that sparked a feud between State Police and local prosecutors, will remain jailed as new sexual assault charges against him are pending.
Ian Schweizer, 38, will remain jailed in the Keogh-Dwyer Correctional Institute in Sussex County following a Tuesday morning hearing. He is charged with two counts of sexual assault, two counts of aggravated assault, and simple assault stemming from an April 21 incident in Sandyston.
Although he is being held in Sussex County, Schweizer is being charged by the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office.
