Photo / File Whanganui Chronicle Whanganui s velodrome has been closed because of concerns about the deterioration of the track, with a cyclist fortunate to escape injury after riding through a rotten board. Whanganui District Council s property manager Leighton Toy said considerable work went into restoring the track to a suitable condition for the Downer New Zealand Masters Games earlier this month.

Peter Hicks first teaching position was at Greengate Junior School in Barrow in 1992. Despite it being his first role, he became a well-respected member of their Senior Leadership Team. By 2001 he had begun teaching at George Romney School in Dalton where he served as deputy headmaster for five years. During his time there he assisted with the introduction of interactive white boards. In 2005, he worked with the LA’s School Improvement Team before deciding to stay on permanently, working in the Improving Schools Programme, supporting schools in their teaching and learning. He joined Heron Hill school in Kendal in 2009 until his retirement.

9 & 10 News February 8, 2021 The battle between the Iron Pig Smokehouse and the state continues as a contempt hearing was held on Monday. The issue at hand was the restaurant violating the temporary restraining order put on them on Feb. 4. Ingham County Circuit Court Judge Clinton Canady presided and will decide if the Iron Pig should face any punishment or fines. During the hearing, the attorney representing the Iron Pig, David Delaney told Judge Canady the restaurant was hurt financially when they weren’t open for Super Bowl Sunday, and he should consider that when determining possible fines. The opposing side argued other restaurants were hurting while The Iron Pig disobeyed orders put out by the health department.
