THE leader of Dudley Council has announced his new cabinet, outlining regeneration, supporting businesses and boosting tourism as their top priorities. At a meeting of the full council last night Councillor Patrick Harley said the authority will continue the £1 billion regeneration plan for Dudley, including the new Dudley Leisure Centre, Very Light rail and Metro. The leader also outlined plans to encourage people to “spend locally” to support town centres as part of the Dudley Deal initiative. Councillor Patrick Harley, leader of the council, said: We have a very strong cabinet full of experience as well as some new faces. We will continue to invest in public services and build on the positive work we have been doing in recent years – particularly the ongoing £1billion investment in regenerating Dudley.

Project to move library to Black Country museum gathers pace

WORK to move an historic former Dudley borough library to the Black Country Living Museum is gathering pace. Woodside Library, on Stourbridge Road in Holly Hall, is being dismantled piece by piece with help from Dudley Council. The library will be rebuilt brick-by-brick to become a dramatic centrepiece of the heritage attraction’s new 1940s-1960s Black Country town, part of the museum’s major Forging Ahead development. Andrew Lovett, chief executive officer at the museum, said: We are so proud to be able to give Woodside Library a new home as an integral part of our new capital development, BCLM: Forging Ahead. The project is now more important than ever to the future of Black Country Living Museum.
