Ian Woolley and Bob Mehrtens win 66th New Zealand Ploughing Championships 14 Apr, 2021 04:30 AM 2 minutes to read By: Shawn McAvinue South Island ploughmen Ian Woolley and Bob Mehrtens are set to represent the nation in Russia after winning their classes at the 66th New Zealand Ploughing Championships in Eastern Southland on the weekend. Over two days, about 40 competitors ploughed plots on Mark and Sonia Dillon s sheep, beef and cropping farm in Riversdale. Ian Woolley, of Blenheim, won the Silver Plough and the conventional class and Bob Mehrtens, of Timaru, won the reversible class. New Zealand Ploughing Association president James Burnby, of Clinton, said both ploughmen would represent New Zealand in Russia next year.
