The iconic competition was cancelled in 2020 – for the first time in over 60 years – due to the COVID-19 Pandemic.
But special arrangements have now been put in place to ensure the return of the competition this year, with the overall winners due to be announced before the end of the year.
The 2021 SuperValu TidyTowns competition will take place in the same format as previous years, albeit with a specific emphasis on electronic entry and remote adjudication of each town’s entry.

NEARLY 50 Tidy Towns committees across Limerick are to receive funding of up €1,000 ahead of this year s national competition.

HALIFAX A 51-year-old man is facing impaired driving charges after a car crashed into a cemetery in Midgell, P.E.I. on Monday night. At 8:10 p.m. on May 10, emergency crews responded to a call that a car that had crashed into the Midgell Cemetery on Route #2. Police say when they arrived, the male driver of the vehicle had left the scene on foot. According to police, “it was evident that a small hatchback had crossed the roadway and careened through a six-inch post continuing to strike a few grave stones.” Police say seven headstones were damaged, some beyond repair, including one that had been in near perfect condition since it was situated in 1937.
AN AMERICAN WARSHIP HAS seized a massive cache of illicit Russian- and Chinese-made weapons, which were found hidden inside a small fishing vessel sailing in the North Arabian Sea, according to the United States Navy. A statement describing the seizure was issued on Monday by the US Navy’s Fifth Fleet, which is based in the Gulf state of Bahrain. It said that the seizure was carried out by a US Coast Guard Team aboard the
