LAHORE: Punjab counter-terrorism department personnel raided a militant hideout in Sargodha and arrested seven suspected terrorists belong to a banned organisation in Sargodha.
CTD sources said the suspects aimed to spark sectarian conflict in the country and were plotting the assassination of a local organisation leader in Sargodha. CTD personnel also recovered explosives, hand grenades and arms.
A CTD source said there was an exchange of fire between the police and suspects. The mastermind, Mehmood Iqbal, was running the network from a neighbouring country. The department has approached Interpol to arrest him.

PESHAWAR: Security forces have arrested four terrorists, including the commander of a banned outfit, who were reportedly planning a major terror attack in Peshawar on December 25, which is Christmas Day and Quaid-i-Azam Day.
The arrests were made from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Khyber district.
In a raid at a house in Sipah Thursday night, security forces and police arrested the four terrorists, one of whom was identified as Zakir Afridi, a commander of Lashkar-e-Islam.

LAHORE: Tedious investigations helped Counterterrorism Department (CTD) arrest three terrorists involved in four bomb blasts in Rawalpindi in 2020, who were also planning to explode the Islamabad Stock Exchange and other key installations.
In preliminary investigations, a terrorist revealed that he got orders from his handler A (name not disclosed) who had been in contact with the masterminds based in Afghanistan. He got money for every bomb blast. He used to send video of the incident to his handler on which the handler sent him funds. He received explosives through his accomplices just a couple of days before the planned blast. According to him, his handler got funds from Afghanistan.
