ITP adopts modern technology to facilitate the masses Islamabad, March 14, 2021 (PPI-OT): Islamabad Traffic police have adopted modern technology to provide best services to the citizens. According to details, following the direction of IG Islamabad Qazi Jameel-ur-Rehman, SSP Traffic Farrukh Rashid has introduced modern technological services such as issuance of online appointment system, SMS alert and smart driving license for the convenience of citizens. Meanwhile, the use of speed-checking cameras has significantly reduced traffic accidents. Moreover, to ensure compliance with traffic rules a special campaign namely “SAFER ROADS” (safe roads) was launched which was aimed to have a check on violation such as tinted glass papers, un-authorized number plates, high beams and certain other violations.

The spokesperson said Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Islamabad launched the new driving license that has the latest security features installed. In case of [an] emergency in the new license, all data will be recorded through the chip, the spokesperson said, adding it was available at the same fee as the previous license. Through the smart license, the chances of deception will reduce, he said. It would soon be linked to NADRA and excise s database.

Two JITs set up to probe cases against lawyers - Pakistan

DawnNewsTV/File ISLAMABAD: Two joint investigation teams (JITs) have been constituted to probe cases registered against lawyers under Anti-Terrorism Act and Pakistan Penal Code (PPC), sources told Dawn. Chief Commissioner Islamabad Amer Ahmed Ali issued separate notifications in this regard. The cases against the lawyers were registered in the Ramna and Margalla police stations in connection with their attack on Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Feb 8. Earlier, Deputy Inspector General of Police (Operations) Islamabad Afzal Ahmed Kausar had requested the chief commissioner to constitute the JITs. The JITs were constituted under section 19 of ATA.
