As a Jewish believer in Yeshua who has been involved in dialogue with the rabbinic community for the last 50 years, I found Josh Feinberg’s May 4 article in
Feinberg wrote his article in response to a recent debate between Messianic Jew
Eitan Bar and ultra-Orthodox Rabbi
Chaim Shitrit, noting that the debate was called “‘historic’ by some leaders in the Israeli Messianic community,” a claim that Feinberg dismissed.
What Feinberg seems to have missed is that in many ways this debate

The recent debate between Messianic Jew Eitan Bar and Rabbi Chaim Shitrit is viewed as “historic” by some leaders in the Israeli Messianic community. The impression one gets from the Messianic comments on this debate is that Bar won it. The following, however, is not an attempt to grade the debaters. Personally, I found both unconvincing. I also wonder why this is seen as historic when in fact these kinds of religious debates go back to the Middle Ages and are well known to almost every Jew.
But the real wonder is why Messianic
Jews are still so preoccupied with an issue settled more than two millennia ago. Jews as a whole long ago rejected the Sadducees’ literal interpretation of the Torah, which among other things lead them to deny resurrection from the dead because, to follow Eitan Bar’s argument, it is not once mentioned in the text.

The Orthodox Jewish community living in Jerusalem’s French Hill neighborhood was scandalized by the recent exposure of a Christian living as one of them for years.
Michael Elkohen, who was born as Michael Elk, was already exposed six year ago in another Orthodox community, and consequently moved to French Hill, where he somehow managed to again hide his identity. According to Orthodox news portal
Hadrei Haredim, the US-born Elk entered Israel as Elkohen with forged documents showing he is a Jew.

Historiographical misrepresentations about the corporate emergence of modern Jewish Yeshua-Believers (Messianic Jews) in
Eretz-Israel, the Land of Israel, are becoming a popular phenomenon. Certain local Messianic “superstars” that have no historiographical qualifications at all, wrongly assume that they can amateurishly write or lecture on the history of the Messianic movement. Without skilled education they increasingly produce semi-factual and speculative narratives of past events. Thus, the randomly accumulated fractions of the truth are worse than a whole lie. To tell merely a limited percentage of the reality is nothing but a dishonest propaganda technique.
Not only Israeli Messianic pseudo-historians often twist and rewrite history. Also, in other countries Messianic pseudo-historians either lack full and accurate chronological records or deliberately ignore them. Sadly, sometimes this is imitated by Israeli Messianic pseudo-historians.
