TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Florida State diver Joshua Davidson was named the ACC Diver of the Week by the conference on Tuesday, following his performance at 22nd-ranked Auburn.
The senior from Tomball, Texas placed first on both the 1-meter (327.15) and 3-meter (377.70), helping the Seminoles win 12 straight events in the 180-120 win over the Tigers.
The victory was also the first over Auburn in program history, snapping an 18-meet losing streak that began on Feb. 2, 1975. It was also the first ranked win since the Noles defeated No. 21 Minnesota 179-121 on Oct. 7. 2017.
January 15, 2021 No.16/22 Noles to Host Gardner-Webb on Senior Day
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The No.16/22 Florida State swimming and diving teams will host Gardner-Webb on Saturday at the Morcom Aquatic Center at 11 a.m. The Seminoles will recognize 10 seniors prior to the meet.
“We’re looking forward to having a great day for our seniors,” FSU head coach Neal Studd said. “They have been through a lot, so it’s even more special that we get to celebrate them.”
The Meet
The meet will follow the 16-event format featuring 100s and 200s of each stroke in addition to the 50 free, 500 free, 1000 free, 200 IM and the 200 medley and free relays.
January 8, 2021 No. 16 Men Defeat LSU, No. 22 Women Tie
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The No.16 Florida State men’s swimming and diving team (3-0, 1-0 ACC) picked up its third win of the season on Friday, defeating RV LSU 170.5-91.5 at the Morcom Aquatics Center. The No. 22 FSU women (1-1-1, 0-1 ACC) tied the RV Tigers 131-131 as both teams competed in swimming events only.
“I thought we had a pretty good day,” FSU head coach Neal Studd said. “We’ve only been back in the water this week and I liked what I saw. We lost at LSU last year on the women’s side, so for us to tie is a step in the right direction. We had some great swims from both teams and I am really proud of the effort.”
