ISHPEMING The death of 25-year-old Ishpeming woman Lacie Borchert four months ago continues to haunt friends, relatives and everyone who knew her.
Borchert was found deceased in a body of water off of Excelsior Street in the city of Ishpeming Nov. 27, several hundred feet from where she lived, according to her family.
She was last seen at her home around 3 a.m. and was reported missing later that day at 5:45 p.m. Her vehicle was located in a ditch not far from where her body was discovered by officers from the Ishpeming Police Department.

Branden Holm, 34, was last seen in the city Wednesday, February 3 at about 10 p.m. He’s described as 5’7” and 155 pounds with short brown hair and green eyes. Holm was last seen wearing blue jeans and a gray winter jacket.
Officers have searched the areas where Holm was last seen. Investigation revealed he didn’t appear to be in a good frame of mind days before he was seen going for a walk Wednesday night. The incident wasn’t reported until Friday, February 5.
Police say at this time foul play is not suspected.

MARQUETTE Friends and relatives of Lacie Borchert, the 25-year-old Ishpeming woman found deceased in a lake next to Excelsior Street in Ishpeming on Friday, Nov. 27, are still searching for answers.
While the Ishpeming Police Department has completed its investigation and ruled out foul play, those close to Borchert remain skeptical about the situation.
A series of demonstrations were organized and held Monday and Tuesday, with friends and relatives appearing at various locations around Marquette County to raise awareness on the case, including one outside of the Marquette County Courthouse.
“We are here (today) in a protest to fight for justice for Lacie,” said Maria Dahl, a close friend of Borchert’s. “We are here to find answers, to find facts and bring awareness.”
ISHPEMING Two men are hospitalized following a stabbing incident in Ishpeming.
The City of Ishpeming Police Department was called to a Canda Manor apartment at approximately 7:57 a.m. Tuesday, a press release states.
It was discovered upon IPD arrival that a 19-year-old Champion man had been stabbed in the leg.
Police searched for a second individual who had fled, and were ultimately dispatched to UP Health System-Bell for a report of a 28-year-old Gwinn man with lacerations to his arms.
The man had been stabbed four times at the apartment before fleeing the scene to go to Bell hospital, police say.
