Insecurity: Matawalle cautions media houses against unverified reports

By Ishaq Zaki Gusau, March 9, 2021 Gov. Bello Matawalle of Zamfara has advised media houses to always verify their reports on security before publishing or broadcasting them. Matawalle gave the advice in a statewide broadcast in Gusau on Tuesday. He said the state government noted with dismay some unverified reports from both the broadcast and print media on the security situation of the state. “We appreciate the efforts of working journalists in the state to the ongoing peace dialogue process with bandits, but we want you to be professional always while carrying out your duties,” Matawalle said. He also condemned the use of social platforms for spreading fake news on insecurity.

APC, NRM supporters defect to PDP in Zamfara state

By Ishaq Zaki Gusau, Jan. 17, 2021 Dozens of All Progressives Congress (APC) and National Rescue Movement (NRM) supporters in Madawaki Ward of Gusau Local Government Area of Zamfara have defected to Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Speaking on behalf of the defectors on Sunday, Alhaji Bello Jafaru said their decision to join PDP was as a result of the present administration’s efforts in tackling insecurity in the state. Also speaking, Hajiya Hadiza Salisu commended Gov. Bello Matawalle for appointing women into various political offices in the state. “On behalf of over 3000 women from Madawaki Ward, we have decided to join PDP considering various programmes initiated by Gov. Bello Matawalle to move Zamfara forward.
