Subscriber only A PENSIONER who had just been caught driving while under the influence of liquor brazenly returned to his vehicle a short time later and drove off; still well over the alcohol limit. Ivan Fergus Walker, 57, an invalid pensioner from Acacia Ridge, on Wednesday pleaded guilty to two charges of driving when under the influence of liquor in Ipswich on Sunday, December 13, 2020; and two charges of unlicensed driving while SPER suspended. Prosecutor Sergeant Paul Caldwell said police intercepted Walker in a ute at 5.40pm near Ipswich Hospital. Police noted Walker was unsteady on his feet with bloodshot eyes, and the smell of liquor on his breath.
