4 The Department of Defense is pleased to announce the 15 recipients of the 2021 Secretary of Defense Employer Support Freedom Award, the highest U.S. government honor to employers for support of National Guard and Reserve employees.
The recipients include small and large private and public sector employers nominated by a National Guard or Reserve Component employee employed in their organization. Celebrating its 25th year, the Freedom Award began in 1996 under the auspices of Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve to recognize exceptional employer support, with 310 honorees to date.

Three people injured in crash on 17 Bypass in Myrtle Beach near Coastal Grand

Jun. 1 MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. Three people were injured in a three-car crash Monday afternoon, police say.
The crash shut down all traffic going north on U.S. Hwy.-17 Bypass in Myrtle Beach, but was cleared in less than an hour, the state transportation department said.
The accident near Coastal Grand Mall comes on one of the busiest travel days the Grand Strand has seen so far this year.
Separately, two people died this weekend as the result of car accidents.

When Alan Osuch collapsed at the 8.5-mile marker of a half-marathon on May 1 in Myrtle Beach, the rest of his running family accompanying him on the venture wasnât immediately aware.
Once word got around, concern mounted for the health of the beloved Osuch, whose name has been attached to area running events for years.

The Daily Independent in search of Osuch on Monday, May 3. Alsobrook had administered CPR on Osuch after he tumbled to the ground in front of her and her friend during the race. By Wednesday, she discovered he was in a room at Grand Strand Medical Center in Myrtle Beach.

A mum-of-four who died shortly after giving birth would have been advised to have an abortion if doctors had diagnosed her condition on time, an inquest heard. Susan McLoughlin, 33, suffered a cardiac arrest shortly after undergoing a caesarean section to deliver her baby girl Leila on October 21, 2019, leaving her devastated partner Jason McKevitt to raise their four children alone.
