Gladstone Regional Council has revealed its new look Youth Council featuring 10 of the region’s best minds.
The 2021 Gladstone Region Youth Council members are Aaron Yea, Alexa Marxsen, Brooke Assman (co-chair), Charlise Falconer, Gypsy Cantwell, Layla Dow (co-chair), Rommiel Malig, Stella Porter, Taylah Cubis and William Patrick.
Members of the youth council are based across the region including at Agnes Water, Gladstone, Boyne Island, Tannum Sands, Burua and Calliope.
Ages of youth councillors span from 15 to 20 years old, with seven of the
10 members still attending school.
Because of this, Gladstone Region Youth Council’s annual term is aligned with the Queensland school year.

Nine young people from the Gladstone region have been appointed as representatives on the Gladstone Region Youth Council for 2021.
In a general meeting on April 6, Gladstone Regional Council officially welcomed the applicants who are from Gladstone, Agnes Water, Calliope, Burua, Tannum Sands and Boyne Island.
Aaron Yea, Alexa Marxsen, Brooke Assman, Charlise Falconer, Layla Dow, Rommiel Malig, Stella Porter, Tayla Cubis, William Patrick and Gypsy Cantwell have all been appointed.
Community Development and Events general manager Kylie Lee said the youth council would participate in the Mayor’s Youth Breakfast, Youth Ally Pilot Program against domestic and family violence, Youth Week, Volunteer’s Week, Seniors Week and Mental Health Week.

Nominations are now open for the 2021 Mayorâs Youth Breakfast, an invite-only event coinciding with Queensland Youth Week Celebrations.
The breakfast will be held at Gladstone Entertainment Convention Centre on Tuesday, April 13 for young people aged 12 to 25 years.

âYoung people may be acknowledged for sporting, cultural, employment or academic achievements, or for their involvement in volunteering, mentoring or fundraising,â Cr Burnett said.
