Get support, a job or parenting advice through the Missouri Mentoring Partnership  Missouri Mentoring Partnership supports youth completing their educational, personal and employment goals. The program recruits area corporate partners to hire qualified youth candidates when there is a job opening. The company selects an employee to serve as their workplace mentor. MMP serves an average of 65 participants in the worksite program every year.   The Young Parent Program assists young mothers and fathers who are 21 years of age and younger to develop parenting skills and match them with a caring adult mentor. Each young parent is matched with a trained community mentor who assists the young parent to develop effective parenting skills, maintain a healthy life, keep immunizations updated, and offer support and encouragement to reduce stress, stay in school, and take care of themselves and their children.

Mary Anita DeWitt, fondly called Anita, passed away at home on May 26, 2021 with the aroma of lavender, soft music and her loving family surrounding her on her ultimate journey. A lifelong resident of Newport, RI; Anita was born on March 26, 1936 to Mary (Antone-Weston) Brookins and Ernest B. Weston; both deceased. Brothers Kenneth Black and Edward Weston survive Anita. Preceded her in death is her sister Charlotte Weston Smith and her brother Michael Black. She is also survived by her dear sister Valerie Lee with whom she had an extraordinary close relationship. Anita is survived by her five children Gail DeWitt, Fred DeWitt, Terri (DeWitt) Lawrence, Ernest DeWitt and Ronald DeWitt, daughters-in-law Wanda DeWitt and PJ DeWitt, and her bonus daughter Laurie Allan. A delightfully proud and fun grandmother to her seven grandchildren who fondly called her Grandma or Two Shoes; they all will continue to love her dearly. (Hoang Leon Nguyen / The Republican) Facebook Share SPRINGFIELD The Pioneer Valley Riverfront Club, shuttered in 2020 by COVID-19, will reopen later this month but with part-time staff only and probably fewer rowers than it had in 2019. “Frankly, the kids are excited to get back on the water,” Executive Director Ben Quick said Tuesday. “And the adults too.” Varsity rowers who are in eighth through 12th grade will return March 28, and other programs will begin on April 5. Kayak rentals will resume May 29. Public access to the water resumes when the club can get its docks back in the water, Quick said. The club has been opening the parking lot for visitors to North Riverfront Park throughout the shutdown.
