The road through Kelvingrove Park is temporarily closed to vehicles to allow social distancing during the pandemic. Campaigners, presenting a petition calling for action to address “daily dangers”, said issues have “now shifted over to University Avenue”. They asked for segregated cycle lanes to be rolled out but were told that would narrow the lanes “below the safe limit”. A council officer added a full redesign of the roads was not possible until it was clear whether Kelvin Way would be closed permanently. The petition, signed by 179 people, claimed “inconsiderate behaviour” peaks from the University Union bus stop along the approach to the junction of Kelvin Way and up University Avenue”.
