The rollout of COVID-19 vaccines is well underway for veterans and healthcare workers at the Canandaigua VA Medical Center, as well as frontline workers at area hospitals.
Vaccinations against COVID-19 began Monday at the Canandaigua VA. The VA on Fort Hill Avenue is among 113 VA medical centers nationwide to receive the first limited supply of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine, the VA announced. The Syracuse and Albany VA medical centers are also on the list.
According to UR Medicine, just days after the first doses of COVID-19 arrived Dec. 14, nearly 1,900 UR Medicine staff on the front line of the coronavirus pandemic received the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine.
Livingston County first responders are scheduled to visit area nursing homes, assisted living facilities and Noyes Memorial Hospital tonight on what they are calling âOperation Light It Up.â
The mission, organized by the Livingston County Sheriffâs Office, will find members of the Sheriffâs Office, police, fire and ems stopping at the facilities and lighting up the night with the vehiclesâ safety lights. Santa Claus is also expected to accompany the group and Christmas music will be played.
âThis is our way of letting all these seniors know we are thinking of them and here for them,â Sheriff Thomas J. Dougherty said in a Facebook post this week.
