Galesburg will finish replacing all of its lead pipes by next fall

GALESBURG, Ill. Galesburg says its nearing the end of its lead water service pipe replacement plan. Now, the final 1,000 lines are set to be removed by next fall.
The city is in the fifth of six phases when it comes to lead pipe replacement. Their contractor plans to remove 500 lines this summer, beginning July 19, and wrap up the last 500 lines next year.

For 17 days, Lucy Westlake and her father, Rodney, climbed until there was nothing but sky above them.
The 17-year-old mountaineer had gotten so used to keeping her eye on the path ahead, to always anticipating her next move and carefully calculating each step, that she half expected to look up and see more icy terrain.

LOCKPORT, IL Construction for the 2021 downtown streetscape project will begin on Wednesday in Lockport. The overall project includes streetscape improvements, roadway resurfacing and sidewalk replacement on State Street between 10th Street and 11th Street and on Ninth Street between State and Hamilton Street, according to the city. The project will connect to sections previously improved in 2019.
