Add These Activities to Your SouthCoast Summer Bucket List

Add These Activities to Your SouthCoast Summer Bucket List The weather here on the SouthCoast has been starting to heat up, so cue the official countdown to the first day of summer! I grew up on the complete opposite side of the U.S. from Southeastern Massachusetts, so my summers may have looked a little different than those here on the SouthCoast. As a kid, I remember taking trips to Washington s rock-filled beaches, spending whole days braving the rickety, old rides at the Evergreen State Fair, and visiting the animals every year at the Woodland Park Zoo in Seattle. It has officially been two months since I moved to Massachusetts and started my new journey here on the SouthCoast, so earlier this week, I asked FUN107 listeners to send in activities that are either on their summer bucket lists for 2021 or perfect suggestions for what a SouthCoast summer first-timer should add to their to-do list for the months ahead.

Wareham s Swifts Beach Playground Torn Down

Dartmouth Unveils Luxury Waterfront Playground

Dartmouth Unveils Luxury Waterfront Playground Few places on the SouthCoast are as picturesque as Apponagansett in Dartmouth, but the area is set to become even more beautiful and fun, especially for young families. The Recreation Coordinator at Dartmouth Parks and Recreation, Becky Amaral, told Fun 107 that the town is nearing completion on what will be a gorgeous new outdoor playground for families to enjoy. There will be toys and equipment designed for children as young as two, and ranging up 12 years old. Everything in this incredible playground is brand new, which makes it desirable enough, but building this gorgeous new playground with a waterfront view makes it next level.

New Bedford s Whaling City Festival Returning This Summer

Whaling City Festival President Mike Sylvia made it official this morning on Michael and Maddie: New Bedford s Whaling City Festival will make its return to Buttonwood Park this summer, July 8-11. Sylvia told us this morning that he made his pitch to New Bedford s Parks Department last night and it was an unanimous yes from the board. How will this year s Whaling City Festival stack up against previous years? Will there be many changes from the Whaling City Festivals that we know and love? Not many, Sylvia said. The only difference will be that we are too close to the festival to be able to book any bands. Other than that, you ll have all of the same food, the same vendors and the same shows that people have grown to love at the Whaling City Festival.
